Sometimes a customer needs to move from one storage unit to another. This process is simple if the customer has been in their current unit for 25 days or less. If they have been there for more than 25 days, you will need to manually move them into the new unit and then out of the old one.
How to complete a transfer (within 25 days)
Go to the customer's account.
Click Rent Unit.
Choose the unit the customer is transferring out of under the Transfer from drop-down box.

-
Rent the unit as if it were the first move-in, charging everything you initially charged.
Choose the unit type and unit number.
Charge the deposit if charged on the previous unit, but do not mark it as previously paid.
Use the same prorate and change the move-in date to the original date.
-
In the summary box at the bottom, you will see a rental transfer credit.
If the new unit costs the same as the old one, the total amount owed will be zero.
If the new unit costs more, the screen will display the remaining balance the customer still owes.
If the new unit costs less, the screen will show a credit balance for the customer.
Important tips to remember
The system is designed to automatically transfer the money from the old unit to the new one. If you do not want the payment to follow the customer to the new unit, you should avoid the transfer tool. Instead, simply move the customer into the new unit first, check that the details are correct, and then move them out of the old unit manually.
